Dr Mark Furman is a consultant specialist in paediatric gastroenterology. He runs Private Clinics at The Portland Hospital, where he also conducts his Private Endoscopy Lists. He also has Private Clinics at 2 other HCA UK satellite locations - The Wellington Diagnostic and Outpatient Centres in Golders Green and HCA The Waterfront Clinic in Elstree. 

 

His current NHS post is Royal Free London Foundation Trust, where is also sees private patients via the Private Patient Unit clinic there. He is the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Gastroenterology there and works within a clinical network with Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he also does NHS endoscopy lists. His areas of interest include Gastro-oesophageal Reflux, Food Allergy and Intolerance, Coeliac Disease, Eosinophilic Oeaophagitis, Constipation and IBD (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis).

In addition to being the Clinical Lead of the Centre for Paediatric Gastroenterology at Royal Free Hospital, Dr Furman is the Chief Medical Information Officer there, a Trust-wide group position, with a special interest in digital transformation.

Dr Furman qualified at the University of Cape Town in 1991 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1997. He completed a Diploma in Child Health at the University of Cape Town in 1991.

In addition, Dr Furman is actively involved in clinical research, particularly on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), Eosinophilic Oesophagitis, and Coeliac Disease. He also lectures at national and international conferences and sits on several specialist committees in the UK and Europe.
